Mark Snitselaar

Mark Snitselaar (1978) studied at the Conservatory of Tilburg with Frans DeJong and Lars Wouters van den Oudenweijer. In 2007 he finished his Master’s Degree with first class honors (cum laude). In his final exam recitals he played Dutch premieres of two pieces by Berthold Goldschmidt (Concerto, Clarinet Quartet). He took master classes with Andrew Marriner and Charles Neidich. As a clarinet player Mark is especially active as chamber musician. From 2006 he is playing in the ‘Trio Parnasse’ together with Janneke Zegveld (violin) and Wouter Bakker (piano).Wouter and Mark also give regular concerts as a duo ((bass) clarinet and piano). With the ‘Charaban Trio’ (Mariëtte Gort, cello; Kathelijn van de Loo, piano) he was invited for a concert in the ‘Spiegelzaal’ in the ‘Amsterdam Concertgebouw’, which was broadcast live on the radio. Mark played in the accompaniment ensemble of Opera Trionfo, with which he made a cd recording of ‘de Roep van de Kinkhoorn’, an opera by Bart Visman on text by Paul Biegel. Furthermore, he worked on the productions of “Duo d’amour” and “La Colombe”. From 2012 Mark is a member of the Kurios Clarinet Quartet, where he in addition to clarinet also plays the bass clarinet. Besides the regular partnerships in chamber music he worked with Mirsa Adami, Jeroen de Groot, Veselina Manikova, Jeroen de Vaal, Gwyneth Wentink and the ‘Matangi Quartet’.
